Dr. Warren A. Chiodo was born and raised in northern NJ and attended Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, NJ. He continued his education at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. He graduated with honors as a part of the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society. After completing his undergraduate studies, he attended the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York, NY. He excelled both academically and clinically, winning many awards during his tenure at the school. He was 1 of 8 podiatric medical students nationally to receive the 2008 ABPS Michael L. Stone Outstanding Professional Conduct Award. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and ranked #3 in his class to earn his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree.
Dr. Chiodo completed a 3-Year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery residency at the University Hospital-UMDNJ in Newark, NJ. University Hospital is a Level-1 State Trauma Center and primary teaching hospital for the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. The residency is one of the top programs in the nation and has a reputation for training excellent doctors who are proven leaders in the field. During residency, he treated patients from all walks of life, ranging from newborn to elderly. He saw virtually every type of foot and ankle pathology and provided both conservative and surgical treatments for those pathologies. He also presented academic posters featuring advanced surgical techniques and rare pathologies at the ACFAS Annual Scientific Meetings and co-authored a paper on Pediatric Heel Pain.
In addition to the core surgical training that every podiatric surgeon receives, he also received extensive training in Foot and Ankle Trauma Surgery, Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery, Pediatric Deformity Correction, and Diabetic Wound Care and Limb Salvage. In his final year of training, Dr. Chiodo was an assistant surgeon who performed the first Total Ankle Replacement surgery done at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ.
Upon completing his residency, Dr. Chiodo was in private practice for several years before returning to University Hospital as a full-time attending physician. In addition to a busy clinical practice, he served as the Assistant Director of the Residency Program and Director of the Clerkship Program. In addition to teaching residents and medical students, Dr. Chiodo also lectures to his fellow colleagues at national conferences. Dr. Chiodo is Board Qualified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rear Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He holds dual licensure in NJ and NY. He is affiliated with University Hospital in Newark, NJ and Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ. Dr. Chiodo is on staff at Saddle River Valley Surgery Center in Paramus, NJ, Metropolitan Surgery Center in Hackensack,NJ, and Montvale Surgery Center in Montvale, NJ.
Dr. Chiodo is committed to providing the most up-to-date, compassionate care to his patients in a cost-effective manner. Given his extensive training and experience, there is no problem related to the foot or ankle that he cannot treat. Common conditions in the foot and ankle that Dr. Chiodo treats are: bunions, hammertoes, neuromas, heel pain, arthritis, pediatric and adult-acquired flat feet, Achilles tendonitis, ankle sprains, soft tissue masses, diabetes, skin lesions, and fungal nails. He specializes in Sports Medicine, Pediatrics, Foot and Ankle Trauma Surgery, Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery, and Diabetic Wound Care and Limb Salvage. He is trained in advanced techniques including Ankle Arthroscopy, Endoscopic procedures, Shockwave Therapy, Ultradsound-Guided Injections, and skin grafts/flaps for wound care.
His philosophy is simple and echoes that of his mentor….the foot is attached. The foot is attached to a person who has to work in order to provide for their family, a person who has family and friends to enjoy life with, and a person who has hobbies that bring them joy. Dr. Chiodo’s goal for every patient is to relieve their pain so that they can return to work and provide for their families, participate in the activities they enjoy, and to have the best quality of life they can have.
Outside of work, Dr. Chiodo enjoys spending time with his beautiful fiancée and family. He enjoys working out, watching/playing sports, travelling, and fine dining.
